The Celestron CPC 1100 is a popular and well-made telescope with superior XLT optical coatings, a fully-computerized drive on an altitude/azimuth fork mount, and the Celestron NexStar computer controller and GPS alignment system, and a solid portable tripod. The product is very well made, easy to use but can be quite heavy and difficult to lift and carry if you have back problems. Visually the images through this telescope are outstanding and it is certainly worth the money for those interested in astronomy. It is important to keep in mind that adding a Barlow to the eyepiece will magnify the image but reduce detail, and it is useful to think in terms of a maximum of 60x per inch of aperture. For astrophotography, however, it is recommended to get a German equatorial mount (called a GEM) instead.
