Blackmagic Design Trackballs TD-WAVE2 Editorial Review
The Tangent Wave2 is a control surface that offers a lot but has some limitations. The surface comes with 9 dials, 9 buttons, 6 reset buttons, four larger dials, three trackballs, and a series of additional buttons on the right. While it can be programmed any way the user wants, some crucial keys/buttons are missing. The trackballs don't move smoothly and fall out, which makes it hard to use it on set. The design could be more compact, and the layout is not efficient. Setting up the Wave2 to use with Final Cut Pro X requires third-party software. For color correction, it is fantastic to use, but non-color related dial functionalites mostly freeze when used. However, the color panel is useful for colorists and is compatible with DaVinci Resolve and Assimilate Scratch, among others.
