The Wordsworth Classics paperback version of Moby-Dick has received mixed reviews. Despite its nice quality softcover and glossary, one customer found that the book was bent and the binding was twisted. Another customer, however, found it to be a great deal and enjoyed the clear and legible print. The introduction was said to be great at explaining what Melville was up to when writing the book, including footnotes and information about whales and whaling. One customer, with a Masters degree in English, found the book slow going at times but appreciated the humor, philosophy, and information about whales. Another reader warned that those expecting a wonderful story about a man and his struggle with the great white whale would be disappointed, as Melville spends an inordinate amount of time telling readers about whaling and its history, and underdevelops his characters. Overall, the book is seen as a classic due to its themes and metaphors but some Considered it difficult to get through.
