Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question:
What is the Fluke 114 Electrical TRMS Multimeter used for?
Answer: The Fluke 114 is designed for a variety of electrical measurement tasks including voltage, current, and resistance readings. It features True RMS capability, ensuring accurate measurements on non-linear signals. This makes it ideal for users in electrical engineering, HVAC, and automotive diagnostics. For instance, if you are troubleshooting a circuit or checking the functionality of electrical devices, the 114 is a reliable tool that helps identify potential problems effectively. -
Question:
What does TRMS mean in the context of the Fluke 114 Multimeter?
Answer: TRMS stands for True Root Mean Square, which refers to the method of measuring the effective value of an alternating current (AC). Unlike average responding multimeters, the Fluke 114 provides precise readings for both AC and DC currents, particularly in environments where the electrical signal is not purely sinusoidal. This feature is valuable for technicians who work with various electrical systems, ensuring that the readings reflect real-world conditions accurately. -
Question:
Can the Fluke 114 measure both AC and DC voltage?
Answer: Yes, the Fluke 114 can measure both AC and DC voltage, ranging from microvolts to a maximum of 600 volts. This versatility allows users to work on diverse applications, whether testing batteries, power supplies, or AC circuit voltages. For example, if you need to troubleshoot a power supply issue, being able to switch between AC and DC measurements seamlessly enhances your effectiveness on the job. -
Question:
What is a NIST-Traceable Calibration Certificate and why is it important?
Answer: A NIST-Traceable Calibration Certificate ensures that the Fluke 114 Multimeter has been calibrated against national standards maintained by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This is crucial for professionals who require precise and reliable measurements, especially in fields like electrical engineering where accuracy is critical. Having this certification allows users to maintain compliance with industry standards and provides peace of mind about measurement integrity. -
Question:
Is the Fluke 114 easy to use for beginners?
Answer: Absolutely! The Fluke 114 is designed with user-friendliness in mind, featuring a simple interface and a large, easy-to-read display. Beginners will find it intuitive, with clear settings and options that don’t overwhelm. For those new to electrical testing, the multimeter serves as a practical introduction to measurements, helping them build confidence as they develop their skills in troubleshooting and diagnostics. -
Question:
What safety features does the Fluke 114 Multimeter include?
Answer: The Fluke 114 is equipped with several safety features, including overload protection and compliance with international safety standards (IEC 61010). These enhance user safety when measuring high voltages and currents. Additionally, features like a built-in low-pass filter help minimize noise in measurements, making it safer and more effective in various work environments, such as commercial electrical installations or home diagnostics. -
Question:
Does the Fluke 114 come with any accessories?
Answer: The Fluke 114 typically includes test leads, a user manual, and a holster for protection. These accessories enhance the usability of the multimeter, allowing you to begin measuring straight out of the box. The quality of the test leads is particularly important, as they help ensure accurate measurements. For users working in different environments, the holster provides essential portability and protection, making it suitable for both field and workshop applications. -
Question:
What is the display type and features of the Fluke 114 Multimeter?
Answer: The Fluke 114 features a bright, backlit LCD display that facilitates easy reading of measurements in various lighting conditions. It can show multiple readings, such as voltage and current, simultaneously, which is particularly helpful during troubleshooting tasks. For example, technicians can quickly compare readings in one glance, enhancing their efficiency during assessments or repairs on electrical systems. -
Question:
What is the typical battery life of the Fluke 114?
Answer: The Fluke 114 operates on a 9V battery, offering substantial battery life for extended usage across jobs. Users can expect prolonged periods of use before needing to replace the battery, which is beneficial for maintenance tasks where access to power is limited. For professionals working in the field, the reliability of this battery life ensures that you won’t be interrupted unexpectedly, allowing you to complete your work efficiently. -
Question:

Fluke Multi Testers Editorial Review
The Fluke 114 Electricians Multimeter is a well-built and rugged tool, which is fast at measuring continuity and has low input impedance. It measures LoZ, AC and DC Volts and Milivolts and Ohms but doesn't measure mA or current, which can be measured by other Fluke models that require the circuit to break. The product has an automatic shut-off feature, is designed in the USA, but it is made in Singapore or China. The meter is overpriced but excellent and reliable. Some users did not receive calibration certification, and one user experienced poor quality and received a possibly refurbished meter.
